Hi there! I am Rebecca Scharlach and I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Platform Governance, Media, & Technology Lab, ZeMKI, University of Bremen.
My research studies digital societal transformation through normative concepts. It is organized around three interrelated dimensions: the politics of technological advancements; the relational structures shaping digital societies; and future imaginaries negotiating power structures.
I am leading the research project “Values-based Governance: European Approaches to AI Regulation”, which is funded by the Central Research Unit of the University of Bremen. My research focuses on the intersection of values and ideologies in tech governance.
I am also a member of the 2025–2027 executive board of the Association of Internet Researchers (AoIR).
